Subject: The main topic or the noun that does the action of the sentence.
Verb: A word that is an action word of the sentence.
Agreement: Makes the noun and the verb agree with each other.
Agreement means that sentence parts match. Subjects must agree with verbs and pronouns must agree with antecedents. Otherwise, your sentences sound awkward, like yellow teeth with a red tie.
The basic rule of sentence agreement is quite simple:
A subject must agree with its verb in number. (Number means amount. The number can be singular—one—or plural—more than one.) You can see how it works in the following pages:
